________________________________________________________ Student union elections are boring and making student politics exciting is nearly impossible. So what incentive does a regular student have to pick up a 24 page issue about student politics front to back? Moreover, student politicians tend to take themselves very seriously, which makes interesting art all but impossible. We made the whole show a joke. We took serious poltiical headshots of each candidate and put them in greyscale for an extra hint of blandness. The portraits were shot clean and simple on a plain background. Then, we got a whole office full of student journalists to doodle all over the candidates' faces. The result, people loved the art. It took the dryness out of the elections and added a smidge of fun. Did we solve student apathy? No. Did we get pickup and positive feedback? Yes, and that's a victory in its own right.
