A Marvel Gaming Company

I worked as project manager and designer for Chairman Ting across the studio's full body of work for Kabam Games — a Marvel-affiliated gaming company — spanning HQ murals and wayfinding systems in Vancouver and Austin.

Overview

Across multiple Kabam offices, my role covered on-site measurements, colour selection, overall design, and technical design for complex wayfinding floor graphics, cross-referencing architectural drawings to keep everything precisely to scale.

The largest of these was a collaboration with Perkins + Will: a custom illustrated map mural of Vancouver built from hundreds of vector layers, stretching over 40' × 11', paired with phone booth illustrations, boardroom signage, and wayfinding graphics. A second Vancouver office embraced graphic-novel-style storytelling with 3D pop-outs and colour-coded zones, while a mural in Austin imagined Marvel and Transformers characters descending on the city.

The Results

The Vancouver map mural earned a 2019 Applied Arts Award for Corporate Illustration (Single & Series) and an Award of Excellence at the Interior Design Institute of BC's Annual Awards, and was featured on design platform Booooooom.

The Vancouver graphic-novel-themed office separately won a 2021 Applied Arts Illustration Award for Environmental/Spaces Illustration.

Together, the projects gave Kabam's offices a cohesive, highly detailed visual identity across two countries — technical execution precise enough to hold up at architectural scale, with enough personality to make each space feel distinct.
