Conte animé : Deux frères et leurs moutons

Radio-Canada is Canada’s national public, French-language radio service operated by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

Conte animé is a children’s series that reimagines traditional folk tales from around the world, brought to life through collaborations with Canadian artists who illustrate each story for young audiences across Canada.

The Brief

The illustrations were designed to bring Deux frères et leurs moutons (Two Brothers and Their Sheep) to life in an approachable, storybook-inspired style. The illustration has a soft, beige colour overlay, subtly referencing traditional Chinese watercolor and the delicate papers they’re painted on.

Each composition is constructed in layers, with key visual assets separated to support the animation process—allowing the illustrations to be seamlessly translated into motion.

My Role

I worked as the illustrator on this project, leading concept development, sketching, and final artwork, while refining the visuals in response to feedback and production constraints.

The story is narrated by Aurore Liang, a trilingual performer known for her theatrical, dynamic, and expressive approach to traditional tales.

Illustrations were brought to life by Radio-Canada’s in-house animation team.
