Overview
In partnership with Tourism Vancouver, the Downtown BIA, Robson BIA, and the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre Hotel, Small Stage brought light and dance performances to an outdoor, walk-by art installation intended to spread love around the city and bring joy after a dark, pandemic winter.
For this project, love extends beyond romance to embrace all the connections we make in life — the love that exists within each small bubble, overflowing into the city around it. I created a series of paper sculptures used as part of the project's promotion, translating that concept of contained, intimate love into a tactile, dimensional form that echoed the illuminated bubbles at the heart of the installation itself.
The Results
The paper sculptures gave the campaign a warm, handcrafted visual anchor ahead of the installations, extending the project's emotional concept into promotional material before audiences ever encountered the bubbles in person. The installations themselves ran through March across three downtown sites, with the sculptural artwork helping set the tone for an experience designed to bring connection and warmth back to Vancouver's public spaces.
